Regret, that biter drop that refuses to leave your tongue, lingering taste of what could had been and wasn't...

That coming winter a bird forgot to be flying south.
That winds from far away never a letter to you wrote.
That to move mountains there wasn’t faith enough.
That looking for the Father we never saw His Son.

Very penetrating write, Georg. That first line in conjunction with the last thought, and the statuesque picture, reminds me of "The Happy Prince"--a short story by Wilde, in which case a swallow does not fly south for winter, but instead dies along with his beloved friend, the statue of the Happy Prince, while trying to bring happiness to others.

"‘Bring me the two most precious things in the city,’ said God to one of His Angels; and the Angel brought Him the leaden heart and the dead bird.

‘You have rightly chosen,’ said God, ‘for in my garden of Paradise this little bird shall sing for evermore, and in my city of gold the Happy Prince shall praise me.’"

--okay, so you'll have to look it up to understand the correlation, but trust me that it fits. --Charlie

A very sobering poem, well done. The picture was a good choice, too.
Most serious is to not see the Son. Didn't He say, "No one comes to the Father except by Me." I'm thankful He came to reveal His Father to us. One verse tells us that He is the exact representation of the Father.
There's still time to see Him!
