I've been searching a long time
For someone exactly like you
I've been traveling all around the world
Waiting for you to come through.
Someone like you makes it
All worth while
Someone like you keeps
Me satisfied.
Someone exactly
Like you.

Van Morrison

Poem Artwork

~~~~~~~~~~~
A song was on my mind today...
mist of morning on the windshield
fogged by summer’s heat and air cooled chill…
driving to my daily ritual of sanity,
an exercise and excuse
To keep me whole.
What made me want to listen…
 knowing full well where it would take me..
reckless reality of separation and ache
in the discovery of
someone and something
I so desperately need...
“…Waiting for the light
to come shining through.”
His focused messages
keeping me strong despite
my constant elation
in matters of the heart...
such happiness projected by
a newfound sense of wholeness,
purloined by complicated measures of
oceans and distance…
simultaneous dignity.
Morrison moans so soulfully
the very words encountered
behind the wheel one night,
discovered so prefect that
listening was of imminent importance...
sung as though conjured
from your own poetic hand.
And so the melody continued
in this post-dawn commute,
so vastly unimportant when compared
to two souls turning right,
and yet, the perfect background
for meeting unexpectedly and drawn
for one last kiss before parting.
Those tones drew shades of passion paired,
a sacred moment reserved only for you and me,
a theme two lovers share,
helping them cope
and pass the trial of time, while
keeping that infinite gift of possibility alive.
”...Someone exactly like you”
My tears compete with blanketing mist
wipers and tissue useless...
longing and strength collide
as I listen intently to every note,
every lyric memorized...
while borrowing glistening images
from my mind...
Smiling still and confident ...
my journey through this song today
will finally bring me home
to loving you.
OH MY GOODNESS! I went to the link you provided. It set the mood alright! As soon as I heard Van's voice I was immediately teleported to the place I needed to be in order to fully appreciate the ache and longing so beautifully conveyed in this gorgeous love poem. I feel like I have learned a great deal about you, through reading your work; your poems reflect much about your innermost feelings and the depth of beauty inside you. Each of your poems show different facets of the poet, like a shimering diamond in the sunlight. I wait with patient anticipation for the next poem you post, knowing I may gain even more insight into the lovely and talented Taylor Ryan. You are an immensely talented artist and I'm so thankful I happened by here and found your work. You have quickly become one of my favorite poets. It is ironic that my wife recently met Jennifer Garner just a few weeks after Jennifer had her baby. (She and Ben Afleck own a home near Savannah.) I remember my wife telling me how very nice she was and how great she looked such a short time after giving birth. So the song, the video and the poem have all worked together to bring this very special piece to life for me. Your grateful friend, ~Butch
Words fail me with this poem, Taylor. You write with such skill and creativity, from the depths of a woman's love in both heart and soul -- who could find the words to do it justice. Please know you've touched me, genuinely, and I have seen what real talent is, for it's here in your work.
Much respect and with awe,
CJ
This is NOT the work of someone who struggles with words.
This is the work of someone who walks humbly through the fields and along the paths of life reaching out to be inspired. You have been blessed with a pure crystalline river connection with those soulful eyes and longing heart that fuels the poets awareness.
Taylor, I believe you have this gift because you are filled with real humility. There is a most beautiful connection you have with what you dream and hope and what you express.
I believe that the true heart of a poet/writer struggles always with countless forces that try to derail the vision, circumstance, insecurities, fears, and every other evil head that rises up to kill, steal, and destroy the essence of who we are, what we do, and who we are going to be.
Sometimes all it takes is a kind word, or a blessing from another to release the flow. This is one of your best and I have saved it!
You are blessed for being given this gem Taylor, and I am blessed to be your friend, and for being given the priviledge to read the heart of a real poet.
In friendship and respect!
Richard
Since I have been writing this past couple years I have become increasingly aware of song lyrics and feel that melody and words meld into my own poetic bed of creativity the whole time, even in the subconscious. You so well relate that thread of the nerve, tingle and frisson of life here, Taylor. When at such times a line or melody TOTALLY coincides with every aspect of my present being, I feel exceptionally alive - electric in fact. Tender and graceful, as Susan says, your work oozes, ebbs and flows like angel breath. Love the lines: "longing and strength collide as I listen intently to every note, every lyric memorised... while borrowing glistening images from my mind..."
And I share your passion for Van The Man... hopefully, might get tickets for an open-air concert at a national park close to here to see him at the end of July... Yey!! Eagles last week... Rolling Stones in August... my 70's jeans are just about holding together... :)) Love this, TY Kate xx
