In celebration of January and resolution...written on a moonless night.

TRADITION
Ignited by the superfluous Ceremoniously thrown Bonfire in blazing columns Fuels our backwards step While bagpipes of Amazing grace Echo in the looming darkness Emotional kindling lies where Warmth and light and marshmallows Were once tradition Leaping into moonless sky Quickened senses fill with Breaths of charred embers Life's heat And scent of sanguine simplicity
Oh to 'sanguine simplicity'! Beautiful expression fitting an absolutely beautiful poem! You had me immersed Taylor! Thank you for sharing..
Love and the Best of Everything to you!

You know for years the tradition in Louisiana, especially along the Mississippi River levees, was to light bonfires to guide Pere Noel to the homes of good little boys and girls for Christmas. I so loved your poem as it brought to me fond memories of a much gentler time...

The benefits of keeping traditions alive are many, as we turn the page on the new year. Through our observance of established traditions we gain a sense of comfort as we face the future and the unknown. Outstanding imagery and word choice along with the striking photo make this a first class package. Well done!

You paint quite a scene here Taylor, one that soothes and provokes the senses with sights, and sounds, and smells, and life, and death. Seems both you and Panda have chosen resplendent fire images today.
Outstanding images take the mind in this read.
Wonderful write Taylor.

It's a shame that we not value the traditions of old.
Brought back good memories. Thanks for sharing,

Bonfires help resolve the old and bring about the new in centuries old tradition. More and more the younger people are letting go of these traditions for lack of time and failed famiy relations. I see it way too much and it concerns me. Enough said there. Here your poem brings grest visuals of heat licking the night. This is exceptional Taylor, as are you.
Love,
Susan
What a wondrous way to take us out of a long stretch of celebration! Taylor, you've given the ultimate gift... that of remembering our 'Traditions" - of Christmas and New Years. Marshmallows, indeed! What would a celebrating bon fire be at it finishes its act, if there were no marshmallows... melting just enough to be to hot slipping down the throat? It sounds as if your crowd is still remembering the better things of traditions. May it last forever! ! !

Beautiful write my friend, I love to keep traditions alive, well many of them. Traditions help keep our memories alive and often when the memory dies we slowly forget our memories of those who helped begin and keep the traditions. I have enjoyed handing down traditions to my children and hope to see them hand them down to their children. Wonderful write, enjoyed!

Sometimes tradition can be lost to the sadness of life. Perhaps one day tradition will mean something once more. Bless You. Excellent visuals.
