Too hot to handle

Lava

You can't stop the fire below,
it yearns and burns and wants to grow.

Insatiable desire that we all know,
but keep to ourselves for fear.

The churning starts deep within,
a heat that grows like unnatural sin.

It can't be denied for it has no kin,
in the lexicon of urges with no peer.

It works its way to the top,
it has to grow and cannot stop.

When it bursts forth with force and might,
some view it with glee and others with fright.

For there is no stopping its mighty flow.
The fire above like the fire below.

Burns everything it touches in its path,
nothing can escape its fiery wrath.

So if you wish to play with fire,
beware the lava of your desire.

Channel it for a good to replenish the earth,
and give destruction a very wide berth.

That lava could be a metaphor for so many things from unchecked greed or desire to pure evil. In any case it does take everything in its path. Great summation of one of the sides of nature in any case. Good read, thanks.
Many blessings,
Be well,
Kathy

I totally relate to this poem and that hidden meaning it represents. Sometimes people blinded with desire do end up getting burnt.
Lovely piece as usual

What we can't do God can! What we can do is pray, prayer is how we communicate with God our Father, creator of the ends of the earth! A Volcano is a small thing to God, talk to Him about it. Very interesting poem Ron. Fire, lava and sin all burn, one the soul and the other two our land, all can be eradicated! Thanks for those wondrous reminders brother Ron! Peace!!!

Nicely gestated... IMO, aside from the obvious, this could be an apt metaphor for the human heart as well.

...it is only natural...to get down...feeling the pressure
and the stress of dayly life...but the pulsating desire
is the only beginning...of all opportunities...talents...it is
a power that restores confidence....ignites human
creative mind...just when one needs it...needs it most!
Yours is the greatest motivator-poem!
Thank you Ron.

The lava flows unstoppable.
you can't use a clamp.
Safe I'll be
As I watch it on TV
In the glow of my lava lamp.

Very hot, were you nburning to write this?
