I'm fine and in a sunny mood. But, people seem to relate to sad, mopey poems. So, I thought I would write one for the folks in California, Louisiana or anywhere someone has lost homes or their love and can't get them back.

Comes the Rain

Here comes the rain again,
it's come before and will come again,
don't know when it’ll stop,
just don't know when.

Water's creeping up to my door,
coming up fast, like before.
Don't know when it’ll stop,
seems like every time, there's more.

Keeps rainin’ all the time,
since she done left me,
there is no rhyme.
Don't know when it'll stop,
this rainin’ on my mind.

Dark and dreary, soggy and wet,
don't know when that I will get,
a day of sunshine in my life,
a day of happiness without strife.

Been so long since I've seen the sun,
been so long since you held me, Hon.
I still don't know what I could've done.
To keep you from raining on me.

So, I'm down soggy in mud and muck,
life for me is a constant suck.
Don't know when I'll get dry again,
sucking on this bottle of dry gin.

Rain, oh rain, stop falling on me,
let me live happy; set me free.
Stop all this dismal, down on me.
Sunshine break through this cloudy mind,
let me bask in your warm glory one more time.

Banish the rain and make me shine.

I'm sure you're a song writer because this is definitely a song of demanding literary hooks in the mind as it reads like bumpy water in dark places - I could imagine, as I read, I was there.

You write it so descriptively I can almost taste it on my tongue and feel it on my skin, almost, after the cool splash of rain comes the warming sun. Nice feeling poetry Ronald x

The poetry of love's romance lives in our heart and there will be some dark cloudy rainy days, soon will wash away, Ron! the sun will brightly shine on you again. I had some dark times and rainy days but now all I remember are the sunshine and the brighter ones!

IN TIMES OF RAIN AND DISTRESS
THERE'S A PURPOSE IN THE STORM
I KNOW ITS HARD TO UNDERSTAND
THAT GOD IS STILL IN CHARGE
AND WE'RE STILL IN HIS HAND
BUT IF WE HOLD ON TO OUR FAITH
AND REFUSE TO TURN AROUND
THE SON... WHOSE ALWAYS SHINING
WILL TAKE US THRU TO HIGHER GROUND

THANKS FOR SHARING, RON. I AM REMINDED OF A SONG THAT SAYS (PARAPHRASING), 'IN TIMES LIKE THESE, THOUGH THERE ARE TEARS AND ANGUISH, WE MUST BE VERY SURE THAT OUR ANCHOR HOLDS AND THAT WE GRIP THE SOLID ROCK...JESUS.
LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

This was a fun-to-read poem, particularly because of its great rhyming pattern. I would like to see the words put to song, particularly in the genre of country music. In fact, I think you just let another of your many talents out of the bag.

I can't predict what the stock market will do. But it's been rainy and dreary all day long. Looks like we will be getting 2 inches before it's over. So glad I don't live in places like the British Isles were it rains all the time. Damn depressing.

Tomorrow it will be sunny and over 80°. Looking forward to it.

Different cultures have different takes on the matter. Here in the desert climes, people welcome the rain and rush out of their houses in happiness and joy. The weather here this winter has been unusually unstable and for the last two weeks has been clouds, with thunderstorm complete with lightning. It's a joy to behold. So, contrary to what you say in your poem, here we say: "Rain, oh rain, keep falling on me!" John

Water, water everywhere,
and not a drop to drink.
One could say this poem's all wet,
it took us to the brink.

How true for me. Rain, rain go to Spain as we used to say as children. I doubt that could be said where you are. You may have rain but we have drizzle which does not stop for days. Anyway a very enjoyable poem to reflect on this stuff called water.

I think the lyrics of this poem would make a fine song in the genre of country music.

I see that old Mr. Hyland is being long winded again, but then that is how he rolls. Tis a shame that California is now sinking under all the wet weather, but is it not better than suffering from a long term drought? I don't know which is worse, but summer is approaching and all that rain will stop and back will come the sun & heat...as always from your pen, an excellent write, Ron...-e-

But isn't the world quieter and more peaceful when it rains. And then it slows down and the birds start singing. And you don't need the sun to make you shine.

I'll apologize to you Ron, I guess, when I post another sad poem. Fact I think I will just do it now . . . I'm sorry, Ron, for this poem because it is so dark, it's raining now and just will not stop. You just made fun of people who write the way they(we) do. Thank you for showcasing Louisiana in your notes. You're a real standup guy.

Ron ... Well written !

You took me back to the mid 60's, when I read most of the works of
"Papa" Hemingway. Water, in any form was an omen of something
dreadful about to happen.

Rain was often the harbinger of bad things to come. The very first novel
of his, that I read was "The Old Man and The Sea". Then saw the movie,
starring Spencer Tracey. That, my friend, was a lot of H2O.

Next, my mind wandered to lyrics from "The Rhyme of The Ancient Mariner".
"Water, water, everywhere... but not a drop to drink!"

Then, I thought about the high content of 'vasser' present and necessary to
each and every living soul, Homo Sapens. From that, my feeble mind sprung,
like a "spring" to the vastness of all the magnificent Oceans encircling our
Globe.

From there it was but a small step, to contemplate the endless search of
Astronomers, seeking signs of the prescence of water on other orbs, that
would signal the possibilty of other ... Life ... somewhere, wayout there, on
another Planet.

"Rain, Rain, go away ... come on back, some other day!"

Ron ... somedays amazing, how our Muses start the juices flowing,
forcing us to formulate new and different thought patterns...
and we just Must Write... Must Share... Must Capture... these possible
"Pearls of Wisdom" 👍🏻✌🏻🖖

Peace, my Friend, hope you are well !!! 😻 TomKat ...

A well written piece. I like how you wove it all together. Don't know why those sad pieces go over so much better, even the darker ones get more notice. Can't wait for your piece on the sunshine though...need that vitamin C :)

A well expressed emotion with a classic metaphor. You've woven both the nature of sadness and the always around rain showers to give the reader much to contemplate. Well done.
