We may fear them, but we all must face these three inevitables.

Blood, Sweat and Tears

Whatever fortune befalls us,
down through all the years,
we all must face the inevitable,
blood, sweat and tears.

Whatever are your bloodlines,
will determine who you are,
regardless of your birth status,
blood will create your star.

And you will bleed,
as time goes by.
No one escapes,
the cuts and scrapes,
as the blood flows freely,
while time tests your I.

And who hasn't felt,
the sweat of the brow,
while hard work builds character,
and garners know-how.

There is nothing wrong,
with hard physical work.
For those that would shirk it,
future pain will lurk.

And who hasn't felt,
the instant coming of tears.
For all that can befall us,
down through the years.

That peak of emotion,
when we think all is lost,
when tears flow freely,
and wash away the cost.

There's no way that anyone,
can escape life's waylaid fears.
For as sure as there is good fortune,
there is blood, sweat and tears.

This is so well written. Every word pinned with the right emotion. How true it is. We cannot escape the human side of us. We will experience so much in one lifetime. Blood turns to stars, I can see your every tear collects to make a river for us to swim to resurrection. Loved it Ron, have a wonderful day, Thank you for sharing your talent and your heart. xo

Well, we have to take the good with the bad. Kipling said if you can do that you will be a man (or woman). So it's primarily our attitude that counts. It's good to be reminded of that once in a while. A good analogy is backgammon, which I play online. The dice can love you or kill you.

Blood, sweat and tears. It's what makes, and keeps us human. We were born to suffer.

So true, so very true. I try to convey these ideas to my students, but it seems they are not interested in blood, sweat and tears, just the easy way out, with their heads into their smart phones. At least something about them is smart, even if it is an appendage.

Wow! "Blood, sweat, and tears" sums up the burdens we must bear in life. Without these burdens, we wouldn't appreciate our successes as much.

Ain't that the truth! Some are more equal than others, though. Thanks for the poem!

I am stealing the comments from everyone on this page because I could not have said anything better! Their eloquent expressions on this wonderful poem express my sentiments. Thank you, for sharing this wisdom with us.

Where there's life there's got to be blood, sweat and tears. No one can escape that... unless you're a welfare king or queen.

The title of this poem, Ron is absolutely right on. We live life through so many "Blood Sweat and Tears." They are cringe worthy, but are thoroughly part of our survival. It has to be that way I am thinking.

Well Done Ron !

Ere we be remiss,
let us not forget,
nor fail to remember
two other substances ...

A sprinkle of Vinegar on salad helps digestion !

Your words solidify the fact that hard work does indeed pay off. The way to failure is an easy road. I enjoy the rhythm and rhyme in this poem, Ron. You aced this!

Love ya!

Such a simple reminder, yet so removed from the reality-wishes of so many, i.e., we are rapidly becoming a society with far too many who aspire for"good fortune" ignoring the road to such a goal is lined with barbs and heat of the journey, unavoidable, yet for many of us, a navigational challenge we can manage when we accept its reality. Really enjoyed strolling through this sensitive and erudite piece of wordsmithing.
