And Me

Three days we journeyed mile after mile,,
Across this county we so love,
Laughing, joking, playing twenty questions,
She, taking in the sights and beauty of each region,
Then awed at the beauty of the rugged west,
And me.

The sun shone down on this November day,
On she, my sister who had traveled,
Both a journey through hell fighting leukemia,
And now, in winning that war,
Has come to see my life,
And me.

We rode together this November day,
As adults, not as children as in days gone by.
She who a year ago had less,
Than a twenty per-cent chance,
Of living to see this day,
And me.

For the past year I have looked to this day,
Three hundred and sixty-five days,
Every day thinking, saying, knowing,
That she could not leave me here,
'Cause e would surely ride together again,
She, my baby sister,
And me.

This gave me chills and brought my tears, I'm so happy for you and your sister. The poem is so real and deeply touching. I lost my sister to cancer, I wish it could have been this way for us.

BEAUTIFUL!!! Gulping back the tears here, Karen. This is "simply" stated and as refreshing as the huge expanse of November air that is thrilling your lungs right now. I can see you both FLY!!! Celebration and freedom indeed - less than 20% chance a year ago and look at her now! :)) This is indeed fabulous news and I am so pleased to be able to share it with you here. A powerful and most wonderful write in every respect. Peace and much happiness to you both! xx

Karen, we believe many times the prophets of doom and then, God gives us another thing to think, that He can bestow upon us small mercies!

Keeping this one my friend. Such a touching piece of work, with the despair combined with hope and the will to fight the fight and win the battle. I am so happy she is with you, Karen, both for yourself and you dear baby sister . . .
