More Than A Decade
His old eyes searched her person,
His lips nuzzled her hans.
It had been more than a decade,
Since they had been in one-another's company.
They had once galloped together, o'er hills and valleys,
And jumped any obstacle put in front of them.
They had enjoyed the comeraderie of competing,
Even bring home ribbons telling of success.
She said to him, "Hi there, old man",
And gently spoke his name.
Suddenly, he lifted his head.
And in a quick and magical moment,
The old horse's eyes brightened in recognition.
He moved closer to his old friend,
And reached to receive her gift of a carrot.

i think this is simply beautiful
one hard to find I hate to say among humans
I wonder why two friends found each other far apart?
never the less an outstanding write, One I will read to my granddaughters whom are in the process of riding academy
and horse camp, for the last four years.....
