Poem Artwork

It may be a cliché,

I am sure you all have heard it,

But oh how it made me smile,

When at eight years old,

It escaped her young lips.

She had just ridden upon my horse,

A sixteen-hand thoroughbred mare,

Jumping down, upon landing upright,

She exclaimed, “I’ve never felt so alive!”

And in that statement, she captured,

How I felt every time I rode,

And still, after fifty plus years

Spent gloriously with these creatures,

I too must proclaim upon dismounting my horse,

“I’ve never felt so alive!”

Your legs must be very strong!:)
I tried it once, but the darn thing went bull chasing. Minto had a mind of its own, horsing around, and I couldn't find a steering wheel.
I've never felt so thankful to be alive.
Congrats on your jubilee plus.

Yes,it is the perfect expression of how it feels. I think it's because you have one of God's most magnificent creatures under you and feeling the vibration of its life melding with yours as you ride cannot be matched by anything else,es[ecially if it's a sixteen-hand thoroughbred mare!;-) Love the pic too, karen!

Oh my, Karen you both took the words right out of my mouth. I used to ride when I was a young girl! Of course in my other lifetime I rode a horse all the time....Love your poem, it brings back memories.
Much peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

Wonderful poem / Wonderful feeling / I don't have the horse to help me, but I have to admit that I have never felt more alive than I do now. It all has to do (with me) of coming to grips with life. This was so nice . . .
