Poseidon's Spirit

Poseidon’s  Spirit

 

She came into the world a bit past the full moon,

And before the pelting of sleet and snow.

As midnight tolled she did arrive,

In a softly falling sprinkle of rain.

 

Fitting, I presume,

That she would arrive on the front end of a storm,

With a sire named Poseidon,

And her dam, Spirit bringing her forth.

A lovely poem to celebrate the birth of a foal. I bet there is a sense of motherhood involved as you watch one of these small creatures being born and when it rises up on its allfours and takes its first steps.
