Nay, no more
will the magic land
return, nor will
the sacred seed
of secret mountain groves
flower beneath our sun again. Gone
behind the veil, they wait until
the stones themselves arise, awake.
Nor will I court again
the daughter of the Druidess
who was my queen. We ruled
men and the Faire with the angels
of the green, as one kingdom
peaceably. Nay, they
are now dust, and even
that which man calls life
is only dream, clouds passing
in transparent moonlight.
For when dawn spreads wide
across the land, he disappears
into the diamond reflections
of leaf and grass. A ripple
in the pool, a trembling
of the air, and the world is still again.
Now we face a great Chaos
from which the new Creation will be shaped.
Tribulation and travail are upon us
as our Mother gives birth to newer heavens
and greener earths than we can e’er conceive.
Our redemption is in the beauty of the world,
for of Love and Beauty we are made.
So shall She sing again.
Sacramentos, Sacramentos!
In the high, holy hills of south central New Mexico
The mountains murmur, stretch and stir in their sleep.
The fat moon falls beneath the western waves
Of white sands or foam as the mountain leaps awake.
Thin, bright arrows of the new day alarm the sodden slopes.
After last night’s storm, the faire folk scurry to gather
The gleaming diamonds of the dawn— a splendor well spent.
A hawk cries and songbirds spiral in a laughing dance.
We turn our backs as they finish their work to watch
The rainbow hovering overhead and turn again to look
Into the fierce blue eye of the merciless New Mexico
Morning sun, as a moth flies free from the fire, reborn.
Just Listen
to the madness, the chaos, the war within
and without; if your inner child wants
to have a temper tantrum, let it be.
You can’t stop it; don’t even try.
Your storm will settle by itself;
just listen.
Soon enough you will hear a deep
and distant song, rising between each breath,
each thought, in tune with every heartbeat.
The love and beauty of the world
will writhe in ecstasy in your arms
when you just listen.
