Sturdy giants standing guard
Over rushing river, fertile plain;
Giants steadfast, tall and hard,
Rulers of a vast domain.
Every age has its pretender
To this imaginary throne;
But too soon each must surrender
To cosmic forces, known, unknown.
Recently a sound and fury
Has come upon the quiet land.
Ant-like beings hurry, scurry,
Shaping the Earth to their command.
Assuming nature bows to serve,
Telling giants what to do,
Acting with colossal nerve,
Stirring up a witches' brew.
Giants chuckle; this commotion
Will soon be fading memory.
Peace again will gird the ocean,
Some crumbling ruins a legacy.
When sound and fury has subsided
Sturdy giants still will reign,
Free again from beings misguided,
Rulers of a vast domain.
