As a New Year approaches, and man continues to gain more and more intelligence, explorations will continue, as we create a "butterfly effect." With the wave of our quilts, patched by the duty, courage, faith, change and continuity of it's makers, our physical side, our sense of place, will conform with our spiritual side. There we tend to turn toward our stories and paintings, poems and lyrics, murals and novels...our creative notions, so to speak, to continue to weave our world for all tomorrows!

Quilted in down White light tends to blink A woman sews threads to man’s, star-studded links
Souls from the sun, mate under a moon Caress your brethren’s Love is the spool!
Watch, comets stream notions as they cotton on, in the looms Black dresses a sky, when His bride meets her Groom
Gathering the waters, cupping your hand Carefully watching, the pearls, how they land...
Love evenly disperses Then hate too, astute In realizing, then modifying, we’re adapting our quilt
See, moments of inception, stitched from a poke, Emotivity is impacted, from one fleeting yoke
Naturally, in beauty, knowing one’s world Perceiving, we nourish, brings to bear, in this globe
Weaver’s in matter, preserving the frame With tools that are mine, Speculations exchange
Look, Give and take with our Maker, creates patch-less covers To live life all alone, creates cold in the druthers
Finishing stitches, wherein purpose becomes... Satisfying intentions, Leads us away from our One
So alter your self Give meaning, import Perspective might-have-been’s, can never come forth
The White Hole is seen, new patterns will follow Brave, unworn worlds, seam dreams of tomorrow
Divining art, mending physical orbits In musings I write, warmly covers my Spirit
Duty and courage, Faith and all change, continuity in this space, Our Quilting’s, all prearranged

Nice wordcrafting, Kimmy! Such a wide range of images all woven together into one mosaic which is us. Very cool!
Thought provoking analogy. Needs a few readings to absorve the pattern of thought emerging.
Arthur Miller through the world weary voice of Willy Loman, described the momentum of life as a 'peeling away of an orange skin'. With skin you just throw it away, leaving us nothing to scrutinise and learn leassons from. With your quilt analogy, we see the pattern of life taking place in both its perfect and imperfections.

Life for me is like a quilt , with pieces of different texture, phases, stichings they all form the final shape in the end. This was a wonderful way of looking at life through your poem too.
Very nice to describe night as a sky wearing a black gown, and with "A quilt in Notions" another way to describe the weaving work of time.
Great writing, as always.

It is as one sees the ending of a time and the entrance into the moments of the beginning, even thoughts are quilted together and as one places thoughts together we find ourselves, love and hate, faith and future, one must look past the repetition of reality at times and see into the inner of our future which is as destiny itself...prearranged...as you say within your thoughts...

A Tibetan refugee woman weaver spins her wool on a wheel made of bicycle parts. A South American woman weaves a God's Eye by crossing two sticks and weaving the yarn from top to bottom and across the arm of the cross to take to the altar for the purpose of prayer. The Amazonian woman weaves palm fronds to construct her living quarters. A gay Ojibwa woman weaves snowshoes, her netting made from strips of partially tanned moose hide laced through awl-punched holes in the birch frame."

When the day's lessons are done, she pulls it down to allow the young school girls time to sew a story quilt from Stone Creek Woman's philosophies. The clock garden is sewn into the quilt with a big bright yellow sun in the middle. They use upgraded thread so the story quilt will hold together for many generations."
loved this and the title is great...A Quilt in Notions, my mom owned a fabric shop when I was growing up, God I sound old, the youth of today have never seen a fabric shop, instead they have become accustomed to buying that at WalMart or Kmart. Anyway, my mom's advertisement was Mossie's Fabrics and Notions...took me way back with this one...enjoyed the trip, great write my friend. Life is much like a quilt and the process of piecing it together.

A good comparison, Kimmy. Guess life is much like fitting quilt pieces together.
Here's my slant on it. We sew the pieces together. The quilt gets old and frayed and eventually exists no more. This isn't as good as yours.
