Listen to Lilies
Lilies sing silt harmonies.
Listen—they spiral sounds to reeds
that bend to hear.
Unheard by all but the knowing ear,
lilies don’t care.
Minnows flash around
their stems--receive the songs
through lateral senses.
Mysterious vibes
stir water, air.
Rivers carry the songs to the sea
where a barely audible hum sustains.
A solar wind carries their songs
to the stars
so all weaves together
in golden threads
in titanium strands.
