          Another time, another place.....

Sparkling, crystallized infinitesimal grains of sand,
shine brightly under the glow of afternoon sun.
Heart weighs heavy with the passage of time,
waiting for your return, again to be as one.

Watching as you boarded the waiting ship,
standing high above and waving down.
It rained that day, the ocean was angry,
letting you see the smile hiding the frown.

Anticipating your visits while asleep, dreaming,

months have passed with no word, no sign.
Each day at sunset, walking along the shore,
praying for your return, trying not to opine.

Believed to be that magical time of year,
shopping, wrapping gifts, making a choice.
Yet, everywhere your face becomes so vivid,
the feel of your touch and sound of your voice.

As pelicans dive down for their evening meal,
the scent of your cologne permeates the air.
Another time, another place, a future to unfold,
awaiting your return with patience and care.

Together sharing the fruits of life long dreams,
quickly we lose what we hold most dear.
Wind picking up whistling as it passes,
first snow begins falling as children cheer.

Knitted white blanket, one flake at a time,
glides gently down to find its rightful place.
Transforming landscape traps the moonlight,
picturesque beauty filled with God's grace.

Sparkling, crystallized infinitesimal grains of sand,
shine brightly under the glow of afternoon sun.
Heart weighs heavy with the passage of time,
waiting for your return, again to be as one.

Seems like we are all haunted by love or loss of it.
Another time, another place..... for some reason makes me think about my wife of 44 years. I'm already thinking that one of us must pass on before the other. I hope I'm first.

A VERY GOOD WORK HERE. THE ESSENCE OF YEARNING AND EXPECTANCY FILLS EACH WELL CHOSEN PHRASE PRODUCING A CLEAR IMAGE OF HOPE AND LONGING, WHILE YOUR RHYME SCHEME AND RHYTHM SURROUNDS AND SOLIDLY SUPPORTS THE THEME. ENJOYED AND APPRECIATED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Fewer visits make the heart grow fonder, but when it is a loved one we wait for, those visits grow and grow...hopefully. I still wait on a shore of a kind for my soul to appear, but it has escaped me I fear.

This is such a romantic poem Karen, waiting for someone that is in your heart to return. So lovely and pure as the new fallen snow. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and by your side. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & MANY SISTERLY ((((((((((((((((HUGGGSSS)))))))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

I have to heartily agree with Fee, Karen. This write is so satisfying to the lovelorn soul and such a comfort. So much emotion comes through your beautiful lines and I feel like I have read a novel in the space of just a few precious moments. Distilled and enduring work, bless you. xx

I am speechless after reading this one Karen. It so perfectly captures the longing of a love that will not die but remain a hope for a lifetime. The vividness of your descritions of sun sea and sand only increase the bitter sweet passion in each and every line of this write. Well done...well done.

Quite powerful - waiting truly is the hardest part.

PS: And I hope that tiny ragamuffin orphan at your front door won't have to wait very long for a loving new home.

Karen:

I know you probably meant this as a contemporary story, ut all I can picture as I read this is a World War II image of a woman saying goodbye to her husband as he goes off to war and then waiting in worried anticipation for his return...
