We live in an age of Secular Humanism, where right and wrong are considered in the eye of the beholder. “No Fault Divorce,” alternative lifestyles, and non-marriage partnerships are hailed and granted moral equivalency, which is contrary to the Word of God.  

By God’s design and purpose, marriage is meant to be a lifetime commitment between a man and woman. So what is the fruit of this godless void, this secular utopia where the sanctity of marriage is defiled and people hold on to their automobile longer than their spouse?
 

• 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes (Source: U.S. D.H.H.S., Bureau of the Census) 
• 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes (Source: U.S. D.H.H.S., Bureau of the Census) 
• 85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes (Source: Center for Disease Control) 
• 80% of rapists motivated with displaced anger come from fatherless homes (Source: Criminal Justice & Behavior, Vol 14, p. 403-26, 1978.) 
• 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes (Source: National Principals Association Report on the State of High Schools.) 
• 75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers come from fatherless homes (Source: Rainbows for all God`s Children.) 
• 70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes (Source: U.S. Dept. of Justice, Special Report, Sept 1988) 
• 85% of all youths sitting in prisons grew up in a fatherless home (Source: Fulton Co. Georgia jail populations, Texas Dept. of Corrections 1992)

Malachi 2:13-16
¹³ Another thing you do: You flood the LORD's altar with tears. You weep and wail because He no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. ¹⁴ You ask, "Why?" It is because the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. 

    ¹⁵ Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.

Dear Father in Heaven,
 

I beseech you to consider the plight of the American family.  As a nation, we have embraced teachings that are contrary to the truth of your word.  In your word, you have stated how we have separated ourselves from your divine mercy and protection by defiling the sanctity of marriage. 

 Many in this nation have embraced marriage not as a holy union blessed by God, but as a temporary contract of convenience. Others circumvent marriage to avoid responsibility and accountability.  In the end, it is the children that truly suffer.
 

Dear Lord, please forgive us for this terrible wrong.  It was always Your plan for mankind to embrace marriage as a lifelong commitment, with You at the head of the family.  It was always Your intention to establish a moral foundation within the family so we would raise children that are morally responsible and grounded in Your truth.  Lord, it is here that we have failed you as a nation and as a people.
 

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that You restore in our hearts the truth of Your Word and that you forgive us our sins against you and your divine plan.  I pray that you strengthen the institution of marriage and protect if from the evil forces of secular humanism.  I pray that you bless those who have kept the vows of marriage as a lifetime commitment.  Lastly and most importantly, I pray that the American family is once again established in the truth of Your Word, bathed in the light of your Son, Jesus.
