Her Sultry Sound Enchants Us All While Moving With Melody

Poem Artwork

SINGER
by Vernon J. Davis Jr.

Shake and Sing.

Shake and Sing.

Shake your body

and Sing your Song.

Sing your Song, Singer.

Sing your Song.

Rock your sweet body

while your lips drum

out another wet melody,

a dripping harmony of comfort

by you.

Spin your golden arms

while you yawn and

stretch words in rhythm with

the instruments of sound,

begging to you.

Bounce your lovely hips

while you hum along

with the throbbing bass guitar

beating out music for you

to catch.

Shake your lofty hair

while your throat screams

a high pitch above and

beyond your soul and

ear.

And the audience screams with you.

They are deliriously happy.

They are high, off of you.

Shake and Sing.

Shake and Sing.

Shake your body

and Sing your Song.

Sing your Song, Singer.

Sing your Song.

I love music, especially jazz and blues. Loved this poem. It gets me in the grove! I can see her dance, I can see her sing. What we need today is more good music. Music that has soul and meaning. Amen!
