I walked in chill swept winds as morning gave way to noon on shadowy lanes, tree patterns traced sparsely covered ground
frosty flowers melting in the sun soon be replaced by new ones spring hues are taking hold faded shades of silver and gold
no snow no rain but misty gray is how my world looks today though sun peeps in and out not enough to warm a trout
I meet a teen finishing a run he asked the time, I had none told him it was likely close to one he said thanks, continued on
I was ready to head back home my walk done my stomach empty squirrel scampering up a tree was greeted by a bird singing off key
made me wonder how they get along one eats acorns the other sings songs I've never seen them argue in their tree they 've learned to live campanionably

We have many creatures living companionably in our back grounds, squirrels, birds, deer, 'coons and many other critters, with the coyotes and owls at night, and the hawks by day; how nice if humankind could take the hint and only take lives for sustenance.

Don't bet on our feathered and furry friends getting along, Eileen, there are real terror within the folds of nature. Now, after all that, let me say that you took me on a walk with you, the poem is intimate and very nice. "not enough to warm a trout" Gotta love that.
We can learn a lot from nature, and tolerance is the prime lesson to be observed from without !

It seems that it is man who has a hard time living together. Every difference is a threat to what we are or where we are headed. This is a big world, one might think that there would be room for everyone and every thought. Sweet poem, Eileen.
