Poem Artwork

Albums not forgotten, but hidden
by shadows and dust ,I leave them
untouched, but my mind won't

I could sit on my hands, cross
my legs,close my eyes,but my
thoughts insist on prying

Reaching out to stoke dead
ashes,that cannot be rekindled
yet stubbornly trying

The tongue is a troublemaker
but  it's the mind that causes
everything to happen

The world is full of harbingers of
hope, only dopes dwell in the past

Lingering too long over remnants
of what used to be, is a process
flirting with insanity

Remembering not to repeat past
mistakes, shouldn't make us
tentative of new steps to take

How oft do we leave our future to
chance, while foolishly dwelling
in past romance?

Memories of time gone by can not be changed, and they sure get dusty after awhile. Thanks for sharing this piece.

Eileen,

Excellent thought provoker. Why live in the past? Have a friend with this problem, she can't let ANYTHING of the past go. Sad.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

You've penned words of wisdom here, Eileen. One of the lessons we learn from the past is that it is important to move on.

Love & Light always and in all ways,

Very well stated, ET. Sort of like putting your brain in gear before your tongue starts to move. Enjoyed!
