Poem Artwork

They knew that the race required
Having well developed sense of balance
And strong fight -or flight instinct
This is expected of thoroughbreds

So the beautiful black 3yr old Colt
And good looking seven yr old white stallion
One a beginner sassy and strong
One near retirement but still vigorous

Each began the race hoping to win
despite disparity of age and experience
They started  out neck in neck to begin with
As the race continued a sense of destiny

Began to be felt by and for the Colt
The older stallion fought valiantly
But even he sensed something different
As if the race had been predestined

When they finally reached the finish line
They were no longer neck  and neck
The Colt had left the Stallion far behind
A new kind of race had been established

Now it remains to be seen if the Colt
Can measure up to the race it won,and
will it be a thoroughbred,as it declared
We can only hope and pray he runs a
Good and fair race in the days ahead

The Colt had left the Stallion far behind

He surely did, and I think he'll do just fine.

You've outdone yourself Eileen. I have a feeling that young colt is going to turn into a fearless stallion the likes of which this world has never seen and has needed for a very long time. Being Caucasian I'll never know but can only imagine the pride our President Elect feels right now and how proud his entire family is. I do know I've never been more proud of my country than I am on this day.

Yes, we must pray for the Colt, but bear in mind, nobody was born to know how to do everything. There's always a beginning in everything. People shouldn't be too negative about the Colt as it did its best.

Amen, Eileen, been a long, hard fought race. What I loved is how the loser conceded with grace and dignity. Let's hope Barack is a winner for our country. We need it more than ever ... well penned, one of your best.

(((HUGS))) and love, karla.
