Poem Artwork

when the bright sun burst through
the clouds, i couldn't help but sigh
i liked the darkness of the sky
it matched the teardrop in my eye
and as you walked away leaving me
all alone, i felt like a forgotten tune
that didn't rhyme with the magic moon
now my prior joy has turned to gloom
as i speculate on the vibrant living sea
that has meant so much to you and me
always ,seething with life, never glum
unlike some humans living with hearts numb

I love the first four lines... they really set the tone of the whole piece. Love the title too...what a perfect description!

Eileen, the time, place, and mood -- you have penned with perfection -- your words are indeed, magical descriptors -- "unlike some humans living with hearts numb" -- biting melancholy drizzled with perfection from your pen -- peace and love my friend --Jon Michael

I had to think for a moment. Dark skies, charcoal clouds, are perfect metaphoric images for melancholy, yes some of us enjoy the feeling those images create. Perhaps melancholy is the state of mind that brings forth creativity. Good poem.

I can take the melancholy, Eileen, because you rhyme it so well--
an art, as I've said before, that I admire and envy. -gene.

Why is it that when relationships fail we often feel as though we are out of sync with the world? You have expressed this deep sadness with grace and style and added rhyme, too. Nice work, my friend.
Take care,
Sherry

Eileen,
Marcia has said it well, and "...i felt like a forgotten tune that didn't rhyme with the magic moon" is marvellous, so poignant. Fine writing.

Great write Eileen. I especially like the lines,
"and as you walked away leaving me all alone,
i felt like a forgotten tune
that didn't rhyme with the magic moon"
That is poetry in its highest form.
Peace,
Marcia
