I have for the past thirty- six years followed my husband faithfully where ever his job has taken us. I have uprooted the family from their home and friends and followed him without a complaint. He has always been a great provider and I a happy loving wife because I knew I could look forward to the day when we would return home once more. That time is nearing as I sit upon the rocks and look out over the water wishing and dreaming for our return to lovely Nova Scotia. I know it won't be for three more years but I'll rest hear with my dreams and thoughts of that day.
Upon The Rocks I Rest
The air is fresh, the breeze so cool, I sit here to relax a while, Making wishes for dreams, As though in the heart of a child. Maybe simple dreams of my happy, filled life with my family. Oh how I long to be home, Close to the fresh water, Close to the quiet of the countryside. The peacefulness of nature calling, As I sit upon the rock and watch, The waves as they dance to entertain me, The gentleness of sweet music, As the waves hit against the shore, The picture it paints as the mist fills the air. For now I rest upon the rocks by the shore, Idream of the day when I will, Again return home to Nova Scotia once more. I see me now with my pen in hand, as thoughts dance through the ink, Flowing ever so gentle onto the way, As I continue to daydream of home, Where I will surly return one day.
Wonderful images in this poem. I can see it! Nova Socita is a beautiful place ! I have seen many pictures of it.......m

After all, dreams can keep you going when life can't. Sounds so wonderful the way Fee discribes it. Perhaps someday I'll see it too. It sure will help you create a whole bunch of longing for home writes. Lady J
Rose, this is such a beautiful poem, the images are magnificent and your voice is strong with the love of your home place and the desire to return there. Three years will fade away in no time at all and your dream of returning will become real...then you'll have the time to write and let your imaginations leave the paper filled. I got such a dreamy view of your Nova Scotia & I loved it.
a beautiful write-i left my birthplace when i was twelve and will forever feel the pull from home-you write was full of longing but also showed the beauty of a loving relationship as well
...and know well that Nova Scotia will be waiting with open arms and warm place by the fire for a weary traveller who needs the comfort of God's Eden in Canada.

Beautiful and poignant and. . .I have never had the privilege of visiting Nova Scotia, but your achingly-homesick tribute is as lovely as I imagine the land of your heart to be. The sacrifices that you have made -- indeed, continue to make -- show you have the capacity to love deeply and unselfishly. . .truly love. . ., and one of your biggest rewards will be yours in three years. All right, long years. But just as I treasure every moment in the quiet, peaceful, tree-and-deer-and-flower bejeweled countryside of North Carolina, USA, because I know what I have, you will feel that you have found heaven on earth. . .even better, returned at long last. Thank you for sharing this heaven-scented creation. 'Pea' <3
