Okay Felix you got me stirred up now with your write today.
It really upsets me to see these teens on the streets, when I know half the time it is because they don't like the rules parents lay down so they get an attitude and walk out of their beautiful homes where they have lots to eat, warm cozy beds and lots to wear, then there are so many on the streets who wish they just had a tent to crawl into out of the wind and crulity of abuse who in the real world who appreciate the soup kitchens and what people offer. I often wish I could cure the world but that's impossible. I often wonder what goes through their minds.

Nothing Just an Emptiness
February 12, 2009
Written By: Rose Marie Rideout

Snow reminds me of the coldest day,
No where to go that’s not out of my way.
The sun burns like a bitter flame,
No where to hide, what a damn shame.
The wind messes my dirty uncombed hair,
I guess there’s really no one who cares.
There’s a storm brewing deep inside,
Nothing to eat for days, but I’m still alive.

A teardrop falls down my face,
I hear a child’s cry, made my heart race.
I would like to help, if I could see,
But blindness won’t set me free.
I have no family , I have no home,
I’m left in the lonely streets to roam.
Rags to wear, a box where I hide,
I have no life, I have no more pride.
I cannot work, no one wants me,
I have nothing, just emptiness I cannot see.

No family, no friends, no food or clothes,
Just lonely nights, overheated or frozed.
I still have faith in God above,
For He keeps my heart filled with love.
One day I know He’ll call me home,
When I no longer will live on the streets alone.
I’ll have a family who’ll welcome me in,
When He calls me home, my life will begin.
I’ll be equal in heaven to one and all,
For now I have to await His call.

A great write sis and oh so true. We listen to the younger generation complain about all the rules at home, but they overlook the love. Little do they know the pain of living on the street,
until they are in that situation and its so sad. Its sad that some of them learn it too late.

Love you sis,
Selena

WOW! What a hard "EASY flow" to read Rose!
Too many out there are sinking
as they still continue believing!
My I don't know what more to write, for WE had this problem to deal with just recently, and it turned out all right... but for many, it does not for one reason or another!
Their own stubborness usually stands strong, wish staying in their homes they could resolve.
What a sad reality of life!

So very sad and moving, Rose. Much like Fee's piece, it touches my heart. This is something that should not be happening in my opinion. It is criminal. Excellent write, emotive and powerful! Hugs, Elizabeth

Rose, I see these children of abuse all day long and I try to help the ones that have no home or family too. It is very hard to get them to trust you after they have been treated so badly by society. There are many spoiled children that have no idea what life is on the streets and how hard it is to live from day to day. An excellent write

...hopefully the 'now' is with strength and hope one would find their way..as you never know what the reasons are.. I agree with Georg that parents can be the problem... I will never forget a girl my daughter helped...she could not eat the food in her house or use electricity..had to have a candle in her room..abused and abused...soo sad, she went on her own,,it was tough..but now she is doing ok. truly sad!

We all had that attitude but we stopped short of opening that door and walk away, that's called to cool off before doing something that we would regret...dearly!
But, in this world of communication and informations...how can they? How can think that walking out in the big bad world where dog eats dog they will be better? Perhaps the parents need to regroup and see if "they" are the ones with unreasonable condition.
Just a thought.

Georg

In the sadness that you write of Rose, there is hope. And that hope makes this a beautiful poetic story my friend. This is absolutely wonderful. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

It is truly unfortunate as once these kids are out on the street, there is a "pride" thing that keeps them from returning home, even though their parents, SOMETIMES, will welcome them with open arms...parents that do NOT welcome their children back into the fold, were never really parents in the first place...excellent subject matter & a great write to go along with it...Ed

Well done Rose and the only thing I might add is that there are almost as many kids out there who are not there through any fault of their own, sexual, physical, mental abuse in our society is rampant and to a lot of these kids it is there only means of survival...to escape to the streets.

What a sad situation! Teen years are the most rebellious years, but only if they knew who love them most they would not be lost. Some of them ended up being on drugs and then lose their lives on the street.

Sad indeed!

Rose,

The bitter winds of loneliness permeate these heartwrenching lines. This shouldn't be. Well done.
