Too many people today carry memories of their past which continues to torture them, If only they knew someone out there cares and wants to help. Talk, let them be your comfort and strength. My heart pours out for those I don't know for I can't be their shoulder to cry on and the ears to listen and the strength to help them through the past so they may enter their future in happiness.

Surrounded by the Past
April 21, 2010
By Rose Marie Rideout

Many walk through life being followed,
Followed by the dark shadows of the past.
Not my past but of those I love,
Those I am closest to.
I put my arms around them ,
I promise to share my strength.
I swear I’ll  always be there.
I cannot change the past but
Together we can change the future.
We can chase away those dark shadows,
Drown out unknown voices,
Sing beautiful songs and play sweet music.
Those being haunted by memories,
Surrounded by the past.
Hold your head high,
Know someone loves you,
someone cares,
Someone will always be by your side.
That someone will be me.
All I ask is this…

Learn from Yesterday,
Live for Today
Hope for Tomorrow.
Communicate and cry,
Remember tears are shed
To wash away the pain ,
We hold deep inside.

If people only truly understood all that you have said, many would be in a much happier place. You and I think so much alike. We could be sisters.

God bless you.

Like a gangrenous wound, some wounds can't be cut off, cauterized or forget. They will be there, always, festering with the same pain that yesteryear.

"Many walk through life being followed" is an exceptionally good opening line, Rose, and the rest is equally impressive and as ever with you, all from a fantastic heart.

There are some people, Rosie, that open their hearts and minds to all and that is you, Rosie. Like Mother Earth your arms are open to those that need understanding and love. It is my utmost pleasure to know one such as yourself.

You are such a blessing, Rose, such a carer and deep empathetic spirit. You see, understand and seek to share and carry another's burdens. There is no substitute for "being there": it is the most precious thing in all the world yet we sometimes shy away from such a role because we feel we "can't or aren't able to do enough". The strength of your spirit shields, protects, heals, restores and nurtures. Such wisdom in your exhortations - especially the need to cry it all out... we can go our whole lives without allowing ourselves this much-needed safety valve. Thank you for this. xx

So needed, Rose - my best friend is one who is Surrounded by the Past and can't let go. I am trying to be there for her, but at times, it's so hard ... seems to be a one sided relationship. Well penned.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
