- a dispassionate look at a tiny drop of life -

Poem Artwork

Armed
with a magnifying glass,
the observer decided to look
at a crystal drop.

Inside, she saw
the flickering flame,
the dancing world,
the small masterpiece.

She admired
the miniature universe,
the ebb and flow
of a tiny ocean.
She also heard
the beat of vital drums
and a song that came
from the heart
hidden inside the flame,
.

She watched the specimen
grow, glow,
awaken,
breathe.
It looked priceless,
a treasured fire,
the core of life,
playing inside a precious,
blood-red stone.

She wondered
where the energy went
when the music stopped.
Did it dissolve into
space, smoke,
void, light?
Did it disappear under
a lonely child's bed?
Was the life of a human
the skeleton
in another human's cupboard?

Then, she saw it all end,
fatally,
even brutally
and considered the remains:
abandoned
bones, muscles, fat, skin,
hair, blood, nails and veins.
Gone were
the mysterious threads
that held them together.

Later,
the cold cloud
that wrapped up
unfinished pieces,
cooled forever
36 degrees
of imperfectly human possibilities.

The observer with a sardonic smile
still watched for a while:
discussions, speculations,
and religious explanations.

Then she left,
as she cared for none.

Axilea,
Much to think about in this one. I had to read it again. Very deep and profound.

Wow! You know, I have discovered here, gifted people. You have a gift for poetry. I just wish i had the education you have. I come from the San Joaquin Valley, an agricultural place, and this world is one where words grow like weeds. I am looking forward to reading more of your work. Thank you

Axilea, you weave your words expertly, but I am confused by the last line",Then she left,

as she cared for none" does that mean, no speculations, religious explations,or somebody,I know your words all have a meaning, fine write, even with the

abrupt ending all endings are abrupt i guess

This is fine poetry indeed, Axilea. I also love the philosophical perspective that you put forth; substance for thought. Thank you. Love and peace,

There is an awesome honesty about a reflection of one. It can be as brutal as any stranger to the image lodged in honest battle within the self.
Wonderment at musing. Your gift to us doubles each time I read your poems.
Thank you!

We observe the world from within our own views and analysis, and yet at times it all seems unworthy and or unrealistic, with so many examples of trajedy, sadness, and failure, it is no wonder we can find accomplishment, joy, success, the world is not all about relgious and speculative discussions....

there is the humanity of spirtual desire...

your thoughts within poem keep one within observation...

nicely penned...

Axilea,
We will never find prefection in a world that is so imperfect but if we are to change it we must all share in the burden. Your poem is very well written and so unique. Blessings Always, Paul.
