Poem Artwork

At night,
the yard is quiet,
hostility, asleep,
so I finally allow myself
to be free under the cold sky.

But my days...
they are filled
with silent fights,
fervor, forbearance,
as I cover pain
with my comely colors,
showing natural elegance
and whatever is expected
from an exotic plant
with an uncertain future.

I find myself here,
on this land,
where you, the gardener
may call me invasive and
decide to exterminate me.

From a clouded corner
I watch my neighbors and think
"I'm so unlike them".

How much inner beauty
skill and scent
do I have to give
to earn the right to live?

Do they belong in this place?
Are they native
because they arrived years before me,
or many centuries ago?

I think I sense the truth:
when native species
drop mulch,
fix nitrogen,
attract pollinators,
create shade,
it's called
"beneficial".

But when an exotic
does exactly the same,
it's labeled
"ecosystem disruption".

And I know I have to pay,
display
beauty and perfection,
a low-key self-assertion
to deserve my place,
to win the soil and space,
in my cautious gardener's
calculating heart.

Poor little weed. She's doing her best to be wanted, isn't she? I don't know though. I think I'll transplant her elsewhere. I know of a meadow where flowers of her type grow. --Charlie

Axilea,

A garden tendered can be exquisite but one ignored can rapidly be overshadowed by weeds. I pray that the gardener's heart is pure. Blessings Always, Paul.

As I was reading this "Exotic Fate" I saw the Plutocrats Lords of our time doing business as the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council... On wings of imagination I saw them creating the LABEL for the new slaveyard, which is known as DEMOCRACY ~ from DEMO or "DEMON" plus CRACY under leadership of the PLUTOCRATS.

The eighth strophe identifies my vision; and the other eight stanzas mingle satire and wit-wise flashes to depict our globalization.

The poem, "Exotic Fate" ~ when read for the second and third times ~ can take one on deep diving into the ontological ocean of our indifference. "Exotic Fate" paints the nine façades of the building of ignorance.

Much gratitude to the author of "Exotic Fate" for sharing this poetic ARROW to wisdom.

In admiration,

Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

Beautiful with a "certain" intoxicating, trance-like wonder.
