I am so much more
Than what you see!
Look beyond
The imperfect body,
The moon-shaped face,
The graceless, painful gait,
And find
A woman soft,
Possessed of
Virtue,
Humor,
And a heart
Brimming
With warmth
And untapped dreams.
But what you see
Is an illusion.
You must
Take a chance...
Have patience...
For In months
A butterfly
Will flutter free
Of the chrysalis
And she will remember
Those who believed
In her.
Sad, in a way, not being accepted for whom you are until you conform to society's (imperfect) image of what a woman is supposed to look like - these lines,
