Where would I be
Without my friends?
Most likely
I would not be here
For I have walked
Along dark, dark shores
With naught but
A cold, shakey faith,
And their love,
To see me safely
Once more 
Into the sun.
How often
Have I been
Tempted
To lay myself down?
To let the silence
And peace of death
Wash over me?
But always
They were there
Calling out to me
From the brightness
Of the living light of day,
And giving me
One more,
Two more,
Three more reasons
To carry on,
To believe
The darkness
Would eventually end.
Now my soul stirs
With the awakening
Of a new life
Just beyond the dawn
And I know
That God
Has sent angels
In the guise
Of Everyman
And Everywoman
To serve as pilots
Aboard my ship
To bring me safely home
On Earth
And in heaven.
