I went there again tonight
To that land
Where my heart resides;
I saw again
The antelope
Running free
In the shadows
Of mountains and mesas,
And heard again
The thunderous thumping
Of the mating prairie chickens;
Once again
I caught the elusive scent
Of sage and rain,
And saw the rivers rushing full
With winter run off;
This is a land
Where the ever present winds
Blow warm then cold,
And the weather changes
On a mercurial whim.
This, then, is the Wyoming
Of my memory,
The place my heart calls home.
You make the beauty and free spirits of the animals come alive in this wonderful work. But with the cold and wind there, well, I don't see how the animals or people survive it!

If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
