They sleep uneasily,
Those whose sacrifices
Have kept us free.
The country is in peril
Not just from enemies without
But also from apathy within.
What has happened?
Does no one care
That our liberties
Are under attack?
That our voices,
Our wishes,
No longer bear weight
With the "hired help"
That we put in office?
Such a sad state of affairs
In the land supposedly
Of the free.
Perhaps we should exchange the eagle
For one of the buzzards
Flying over our flag...
