It's a cool autumn morning
And as I stir within
My cocoon
I sneak a peak
From beneath
My heavy lids
To find sunlight filtering
Through the curtains inside
And the fog without.
From behind me
I can hear
Your gentle snoring
And feel each exhale
Soft against
My neck;
Your arms,
Strong about my waist,
Hold me close
Against your nude body
While our legs
Entangle loosely
Beneath the blankets.
A deep and contented sigh
Escapes me
As I snuggle back
Within your arms
And I smile sleepily.
The demands of the day
Can wait,
For now, I am
Just where
I want to be.
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
