The holidays
Are fast approaching
And my shopping
Has already
Been completed,
My cards stand ready
For addressing
And my annual letter
Is nearly finished;
But this year
I won't be home
Awaiting Santa.
I'll be spending Christmas
In a rehab center
Recovering
From knee replacement
Surgery.
I consider it
A gift to myself,
For soon after
I will be able
To enjoy walking
Again,
Free of pain
And without a cane,
And maybe next year
I will even be able
To dance.
At first I thought you were talking about rehab from Christmasitis, a disease of being over prepared for Christmas coming. And then I read on and found that you share the same disease as my sister who had her hip replaced a week ago. I doubt that she will dance because she never danced before anyway. But I hope you're back to dancing very soon and that your loved ones appreciate how well you prepared for Christmas.
