It's mid-morning
And here I sit
Still in my jammies
With hair all awry;
What a slug I am!
The day awaits
And I've much to do
But I so enjoy
The quiet peacefulness
Before the busy-ness begins.
What harm can there be
In soaking up
A bit of tranquility?
In listening to the birds
Singing merrily
Outside my window?
In basking within
The warm rays of sun
That shine through
The glass panes
Of our French doors?
I will eventually dress
And sally forth
To complete my many
Errands and chores,
But for now
I am content
To sit here
And just be...
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
