I'm rediscovering
The joy to be found
Within a good book,
Not the factual and
Sometimes dry accounting
Of a life or event
That I usually read,
But the made up tales
Of larger than life characters
That spring
From the creative
And clever mind
Of a master
Storyteller.
As I turn each page,
Eager to discover
What comes next,
I find myself wondering
Why on earth
Did I stay away
So long?
I've often wondered why we are so engrossed with “larger than life” characters (fictional, that is) when there are so many amazing “real” characters around. Are we living vicariously as we read?
But then I'm hooked on “Breaking Bad.” Talk about character development…
