And as we hunker down,
Doing what we can to
Protect ourselves and
Those we love,
We begin to understand what
Is most important
To us;
It is not celebrity,
It is not the accumulation
Of stuff,
It is not our
Unchecked ambitions;
Rather,
It is the intangible,
Those things we feel
Yet cannot see;
It is our community,
Known and stranger alike,
That gives us the
Strength of
Spirit
To endure,
And from
Our loved ones,
Our very will to
Survive.
I pray that
When the crisis has passed
We will emerge from hiding and
Remember
The lessons we
Have learned,
Remembering always
What is truly
Most important
To us.
