Goodbye to you, Old Year.
As years go,
You were neither
The worst
Nor the best
I've ever lived.
You brought me joy,
And sometimes
Heartbreak,
There were moments
Of mystery and
Moments of
Discovery.
You taught me
So much and
You challenged me
Often,
And you offered me peace
Following each spate of
Harrowing turbulence.
Thank you for filling my life
With the essences of life
At its best and
At its worst;
Thank you for my blessings
That outnumbered
My sorrows.
A keen farewell to a year that sometimes didn't go very well. The new year has got to be better and I'm sure you'll have something poetic to say about that.
Your poem actually encompasses my relationship with the year 2022. Thank you for sharing. I wish you love, peace, and blessings in 2023 and always along the neverending journey.
