As Old As Eternity....

Flesh And Soul
By La Belle Rouge

it was a thing of wonder,
the seamless joining of our souls
as old as a continuation of eternity
as new, as exciting, as a babe’s first cry

it was a wild ride on a carousel
and a placid meditation of life’s serenity
love and lust, it was...forbidden
but a thing of beauty, a joy forever

it was dreams and imaginations
based on the bedrock of our love
and inability to live without each other
though now we are forced to

i have no regret, no remorse
you have known me as no other has
we were gifted the secrets of hearts
and touched with more than fingers of flesh

i know the you she will never know
for your soul was mine... as mine was yours
she had your flesh, never your soul
and if faced with a choice, i’d take the latter

so fold the grief away now, dry the tears
love this magnificent may visit us
only once in a lifetime, or once forever
My Darling, think now of the love, not the loss

Luv can hurt, indeed, as you so eloquently expressed it in this poem, and as I can avow from experience! But life wouldn't be worth living without it and, even though I've been hurt by it (actually by the loss of it) more than once, I'm willing to take another shot at it because the alternative--loneliness--is a fate worse than death. You're an attractive, talented woman and luv is sure to find you again.

I love this poem, La Belle. 'fold away the grief' is a great phrase as is all of this work.

Well Belle,

Love is like a thread through body, mind and spirit. Yes, think always of the love which has no beginning and no end.

Love & Light always and in all ways,

May the carnal relation now rise, Scarlet, make a courtly lover blush today...the soul has to arrive before lust...let the Dog Star guide you, La Belle...

Depth of pain and loss is difficult to express without sounding trite but you've managed to do it elegantly. Great job.

A poignant beauty of a write. Yes, the soul is more important than the body in relationships....for without the soul, the body means little. There is staggering emotional pain in every line here. Lydi**
