a little joy would be welcome
equally welcome would be the blues
for numbness and perpetual limbo
are the shadowed hell i still endure
i need to hate you, how can i hate you?
how can i forget to remember
the beauty of the love we once felt
and stark emptiness of nothingness
when it was crushed to death
under the leaden foot of neglect?
i wish never to hear that knock again
or to feel the river of tears thrashing
just below the smooth surface of my soul
i'd gladly trade this nothingness for pain
I can identify with the emotions being so wrung out with a form of relational stalemate that it's the war of attrition that finally wears you down. The pain of nothingness where the "problem" basically seems all ours and the other party is either in denial or just content to sit it out, letting us fill our own sails, waiting for the storms to pass, assuming we will be OK tomorrow. Sorry, Belle... bit of a personalised response, but the fatigue I really picked up on here. I am sure that many can relate to the emptiness you dextrously convey in their own various relational situations. Words and emotions withheld can be as damaging as negative ones released. My love and sympathies with the sentiments of this heart-wrung write. Love Kate xx

Another treasure to store with the rest. In time, we all hope pain and lonliness will subside. However, the journey it takes us to while we try to live is like a rollercoaster with its ups and downs. I hope always for more ups......my best regards,

Your poem touched my memories [my first husband]. I am so blessed to have had him in my life even though the marriage ended in divorce. Without him I would never have had those 3 wonderful sons.
