Stampeding Over The Spirit....

Like Wild Horses
By La Belle Rouge

days don’t care if you aren’t ready
to travel along with them
they run like wild horses across
the vast prairie of your life
where you learn to stand and race
or you lie down and get trampled

there is no rhyme or reason
for the brutality of their stampede
horses run because they can
days travel the course of time
delighting in circling cyclones
without your permission or cooperation

days snort up the changing wind
and buck all the restraints off their backs
there are no bridles or unbreakable reigns
that can hold back their strength
or slow down the fury of their frenzy

you are young... and then you are old
still standing, racing toward victory
or lying lifeless in a ditch of despair
with the prints of sharp hooves
tattooed in your bleeding back

Many a human is wild and free taking it
to the clifts edge. As my 35 year old niece
died yesterday. We don't know how yet, but
I imagine drugs was a big part of it.
Have a great T-Day La Belle

Nothing says Freedom!!! like a pack of mustangs riding with the wind through the prairie.
Nothing says it better as when our heart stampedes...

This is REALLy excellent. It is also original and fresh. I can really see, hear and feel the rushing dance of days that carries us through life so quickly.

Your poem is a picture of life...the wildnest and unrestrained ability to grasp the wind and chase out the days...better to run free and live than to settle for pastures of decay...

nice work...
