Like A Little Lost Girl In A Dark Corner...

The Day My Heart Died
By La Belle Rouge

the day my heart died

i told myself it didn't matter
i lost faith in humanity
and the possibility of "love"

i churned inside until it seemed
my guts poured out like liquid
then dried up in flames of pain

no one had any idea at all
how my soul sobbed and i felt
like the court jester of life

i was old enough, had seen enough
to know how vulnerable i was
how likely to be crushed once more

but i wanted so badly to trust... again
i felt so secure and i just knew
my heart wouldn't be broken...again

felt like screaming but fell silent
like a little lost girl in a dark corner
bereft of belief in fairies and santa

i hoped to never feel love again
for be it lover or friend, the end
was always betrayal and pain

just turning blue again and again
but it's better to hurt and cry
than go on believing those pretty lies

the day your heart dies

If you got a heart broken I have the glue to fix it, the kerchief to dry those warm tears rolling down and a little sweet smile to savour like a lollipop for that little girl on a dark corner.

As corny as it may sound, the philosophy which you espouse reminds me of "it's better to have loved and lost, than never loved at all"

Ideally, it's better to love and win.

God bless you. Kathy

(((((La Belle))))),

O, the pain in this one...but Fee has it spot on: it's better to have lost and loved, than never have loved at all...well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Hope you have/had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sometimes it does seem like that in love and you captured this so well...but it is always better to love and lose then not love at all...without love we are not living just moving through life.

This is heart-breaking, Belle. But no matter what you write it is obvious when reading your poetry that your heart is alive. Injured, maybe. Wounded, maybe. But alive and perceptive.

I hope the pain subsides and the wound heals. I wish you happiness and smiles.

La Belle there is love for everyone in this world, some of us jump too fast and end up with the one that wasn't meant for us and yes we remember too well the day we thought our heart died. I did but I took the second chance and I am so happy today. Thank you for sharing.

I can relate to what you express via your verses, Belle. Sadly, this is a recurring theme in this world/life. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis
