In Drifted Snow....

Poem Artwork

Winter Rose
By La Belle Rouge

don’t take for granted her smile
she could give it to another....
or others

the sensual sound of her laughter
that warms your favorite fantasies
could silence

the love showered on your desert
carried on cold winds of indifference
another direction

don’t take for granted her fire
heat and light can cool and vanish
in dark neglect

don’t expect the fragrance of a rose
to linger when your garden is choked
with weeds

the kiss of a rose is a magic thing
bringing what only her kiss can bring
to her lover

the winter rose will bloom and grow
even mid ice and drifting snow
if cultivated by another

Gotta love the tune, Belle, which goes deep to an all-English lass like myself. Yes, we may wear the brave thorns to safeguard our tenderness and privacy, yet it takes the real Husbandman to be able to grasp our bloom in all its fullness and it is he who is rewarded with the sweetest of our unleashed perfume. You always get right to the soul of a woman... and a man, come to that! Love you, Belle. Spring is just around the corner... xx

It is indeed... the fire that grows the rose - even 'mid the harshest ice and fiercest snowdrift - if the fire is stoked from the roots and the petals are caressed with the warmth of genuine, unconditional love, then the bloom shall remain... full as ever; always... and longing... for the source of that warmth; the petals staunchly defending and craving that source of their sustenance - and that rose... ever-growing in ways never seen by the limits of physical vision; yet known deep within each salient cell of its being; emanating an eternal essence... even after its physical stature has crumbled to dust - the remnants of the rose... never die. -- Jeff

Dear Belle,

Your poem is a wise reminder for us all to never take love for granted. Love is a gift to be cherished, just like roses blooming in winter.

Love & Light always and in all ways,
Joseph*

Thank you from my grandchild, from the white mouse and from myself for visiting for the first time, when I was not expecting any review.
What a lovely surprise, coming especially from la Belle Rouge and « La Belle Rose aux pétales veloutées, comme le verre de vin rouge de Bourgogne » (the beautiful rose with the velvety petals like a glass of red burgundy wine and even more so with the Music "A Kiss From A Rose") I am happy when I get one single and unique smile, that’s why I cultivate roses in my garden. Thank you Emile
