Lust In A Young Man's Eyes
By La Belle Rouge

a silky veil of deep copper
wrapped her satin shoulders round
and shimmering softly fell down
below her full round woman hips
there was a time men lost
their breath at her smile
and thought of paying any cost
to taste her sweet curved lips

there was a not too distant time
the sensual fire of emerald eyes
and porcelain skin unlined
caused men’s eyes to follow
when she entered a door
but beauty fades, nothing stays
the same as it was before

now copper is laced with silver
porcelian flawed with tiny lines
but what she has lost of youth
force of spirit she gained with time
a certain confidence and charm
a mature fire to arrest and disarm
and gentlemen still notice and know
her power as a woman seems to grow
she’s a formidable feminine force
men’s eyes still watch and have no choice

she wouldn’t want to be young again
no not even if she easily could
she’d never go back again to when
she knew not the things she should
beauty and strength are now entwined
and a woman like her not easy to find
she’d not think to trade the bounty
of a man with silver beard and hair
never trade him for a fair faced youth
or lust reflected in a young man’s stare

Beauty may fade on the outside, but never, when it is deserved, on the inside. The fire's great.

Sweet! I think if we all walk on our hands for a year of two gravity might reverse the tide, I don't know if I could get used to eating with my feet though not to mention going to the bathroom. ;)

You're missed but to leave such a wonderful poem about the joys of being older is a treasure. I've recently or at some such time turned "middle aged". I must say it is rather interesting. And your poem puts it all in great perspective. Liz

Dearest La Belle,

You always give it rhyme and reason and season. All too sadly, I know it to be true in your life...but to quill Lust In A Young Man's Eye's - and all of your poetry - is cathartic, a spiritual cleansing need be to evolve into a modern-day romantic woman of mid-age - a journal of romantic chronicles that we in no way will ever leave behind in our travels of eros quill...you're always loved, Belle...

beauty and strength are now entwined

indeed, they are, Belle. Your effortless maturity in romance writing is a joy to experience. This has all the grainy richness of polished and seasoned hardwood, crafted into a thing of beauty and delicacy as a result of it's many weathered storms. Just gorgeous and with all the confidence that self-knowledge brings. Love Kate xx

To that silver beard man I am sure that those emeral eyes are more precious and never lost that sensual fire, converted with the time just into passive embers ready to explode into a fire storm with a real and truly wind of passion, making that white porcelain to warm and melt into lava by lust...and close eyes can't see if those eyes looking back are from a young man's eyes, but the heart will feel that it is from a real lover.

Very sensually stimulating to the heart and body. As one of those silver grey gentlemen it made me happy to think that some women still find older men attractive.
