Broken Things
By La Belle Rouge

she’s a broken thing
with broken wings
and no strength left to fly
she’s a sweet sad song
that’s played too long
a memory ready to die

she’s a friend and lover
a sister and mother
but none of it matters now
a voice on the breeze
a prayer on her knees
yearning to rest somehow

she’s numb with grief
too dumbfounded to speak
with nothing more to say
exhausted with trying
tired of futile sighing
her hope for a better day

she’s a broken thing
with broken wings
and no desire left to soar
she’s had more than her share
of heavy burdens to bear
she can’t even cry anymore

there’s a place in the dark
lonely, cold and stark
all the broken things find
to lay their heads down
nevermore to be found
on the shores of cruel time

she's too broken to live
with nothing left to give
all she wants to do is sleep
nothing morbid at all
in the calm restful call
of the soothing forgetful deep

This sadly poignant write is all too real for so many women and men who succumb yearly to depression. It is a killer that takes all that is left of a person.

I hear the isolated sound of a heart shattering through time as one tried desperately to find the solitude and peace long yearned for. LaBelle I sure pray that you are okay, in my thoughts and prayers you will stay.....

Be always safe,
Karen

I hope this is fiction, but somehow I know it isn't. My deepest sympathy as you travel through your pain. Just know that you are not alone and you are loved here on AD. Hang in there. When is the Colonel coming home again? Brave write. Liz

La Belle this is beautiful and though you did not say it, I am looking at this as a beautiful song as I sing it out loud. Thank you for sharing the beauty in your words.

Somewhere is a heart inside covered with velvet, warm and dark, but not with scary shadows, but the king of the light absence, the one that doesn't illuminate screts but wrapped them with the tender mist of thing don't said.
To a tired red rose, that heart would guard inside until eternity is no more.
