Art 'The Poet's Honeymoon'

Is The Poetry Still Mine?
By La Belle Rouge

a year your fluent pen has fallen silent
a year of what?

there are no clues to your life and heart
do you still hurt?

have you moved on to other things?
do they take my place?

will another birthday and another
journey by in silence

“my poetry will forever be yours alone”
you once told me

even after i had all but disappeared
beyond your horizon

is the poetry still mine, all the poetry
you haven’t written?

the poetry that clanks around your soul
a restless ghost in prison

dragging heavy chains of links forged
by “if onlys and what ifs”

is the poetry dead, covered deep in
a smoldering unmarked grave

out of sight, far beyond your grasp
like a lost love?

will you pick up your pen again someday
or do you compose in secret

with pen of pain and black ink of tears
do you still write

the poetry that will always and forever
belong to only me?

the shame comes down to us, you see
poetry that will never be

I only put my name on the poetry I write,
because I don't know my Muse's name.

Agony clad in mourning ... laying that pen o rest is a death of sorts, but perhaps it's merely a much needed respite from relentless creating...

Your caring, your wondering, your thoughts, ma Belle, make one sense desolation, more on his part than on yours.

...in your words...sadness comes to surface...and in questioning...all the beauty of poetry is found.

Words of love like the song so soft and gentle when written from the heart to anothers are given as a gift never to be taken back, for if they are then they make a mockery of love. Beautiful albeit sad write.

Poignant (did I spell that right?) I also sense a cleverness about it that the writer of these well-crafted lines is the wiser to. And I find that inevitable and strangely humorous..You are a wise observer of our human soul.

La Belle,

It is, until you put it down on paper - then it's ours. Powerfully penned sadness - well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, and Happy (safe) 4th of July, Karla.

A beautifully structured poem, Belle, and the writing is good:
the poetry that clanks around your soul/a restless ghost in prison.

Poets live on mood swings, today's whispers of love will be tomorrow's echoes of pain, but sisters of the heart last forever! LOVE YOU! Sissy
