My Dear Sweet Friend
you have so often been
a tower of strength for me
a haven where I could be free
to let the bitter tears fall
on a shoulder that caught them all
You’ve been brave so long
Been determined and strong
Trying like a “Man” to minimize
the tears that filled your eyes
Just remember.... this is me
it’s ok if you let me see
the pain you sometimes feel
My loving concern for you is real
And if I could dry those tears
if I could allay all your fears
you know, Darling, I would
and oh how I wish I could
Just feel my love surround
for it speaks without a sound
and silently whispers true
my shoulder is here for you too
The softness, the warmth, just to be there can calm fears and solitude, just to be there is te nearest word to describe home, where one can lay down a head full of pain and the perfume of peace and welcome will soothe with that intimate touch.
To know that someone cares and we can be completely open no matter how much it hurts or no matter what we have done means so much. To offer that shoulder of love or friendship to another is the true spirit of love. Well stated her La Belle.
