If i could paint your portrait
it would be a labor of love
and a time of playful pleasure
i’d not paint you with full dark hair
untouched by silver strands of life
not with youthful cheeks unlined
clear eyes undimmed by tears
or hands not calloused with work
i would paint you with the light
of love illuminating your features
it would be a portrait blending
the deepest shades of despair
with vivid tints of fleeting joy
for as a wise one once said
there are no happy lives
only moments of happiness
i would paint you moments
of cotton candy and calliopes
dances in warm summer rain
ice skating on frozen twilight lakes
snowflakes melting on your lips
reading a favorite book of poetry
reclined in easy chair fireside
your furry best friend at your feet
i would paint you as i see you
no embellishment or enhancement
desperate darkness, delightful levity
your mistrust and your fledgling hope
your lips that softly kiss fingertips
of an imperfect artist engrossed
in painting a portrait for the ages
of a perfectly beautiful, imperfect man
lets see, how would I paint thee, first I'd pick the perfect world, no wild animals of harm, just loving plush little critters of charm, no hurricanes or tornado storms, then I'd paint thee as lovely as you are, inside and out, strike that, I'd leave you just as your are, paint over every harmful scar, then repaint you into a lovely world of perfection, no evil or devil in connection, great loving verse Belle, huggados
Should be a cherished portrait and more than that, those brushes wouldn't have just painted but caressing the canvas as the tips of her fingers caressed his face.
