What Dreamers Do
By La Belle Rouge

I do what dreamers do
when war is bloody
and panic screams
into unwilling ears
saying this battle
I have already lost

I do what dreamers do
retreat to peaceful shore
of a river gently flowing
down to the waiting sea
sweet scent of jasmine
heavy on a summer wind

Or indian summer, warm
and mellow with golden
and russet possibilities
nip of frost in the night
and smoky scent of leaves
harbingers of wintertime

I do what dreamers do
listen to imagined voice
that soothes my fears
feel distant arms enfold
I hide again in dreams
of love’s constant shelter

Very sweet and relaxing poem. I like your description and the reminder that when things get unbearable we can do what dreamers do.
Thank you for sharing this one

I agree with Lin. If we did what dreamers do, then there would no wars, no uncessary killing, no hatred, no bigotry, no discrimination, no prejudice, no indifference. If we did what dreamers do we would never say, "this battle I have already lost", because we will have won out over and above any battle that could be fought. If we did what dreamers do, then there would be constant peace in the world, everybody getting along with everybody else, and there would be love, acceptance, and even understanding of what others have to go through just to live. If we did what dreamers do.

This is a very deep poem La Belle, and it is designed to make the reader think. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie.

Sometimes the pain of the world at large must be set aside or a sensitive person can be lost in sorrow. And so the escape into dreams, memory and the one constant which comforts and sustains us. Oh so beautiful...

Your dreams live, Belle. Lucid and three-dimensional. How else to defeat the manic surreality life has become? Make that shelter a big one, Darlin... Love's arms are open wide and set to enfold all who dream large and live real. xx A soothing opiate of a write... think I'll just lay me down... :)) xx

sounds great my dear poetess, dreamers then try to create or imitate the imagination, I think they call it a utopia, and as you stated there's always loves shelter, even if its a oneway street, it's still sweet, back to dreaming, while so called loved ones are still schemeing, they wonder why you smile when they frown, you and I know, it's the inner glow, not the outer show, but love shines out into a dark world needing light, and scorch, you're carrying the torch! hugs my dear
