Art "Girl In White Dress"
By Suzanne Carson

White Summer Dresses
By La Belle Rouge

to feel once more the strength of youth
and its mindless disregard for the future
to run in crimson fields of sweet clover
to follow heart, sacrifice all freely to love
unencumbered by untried intellect’s reason
stand in summer storm unafraid of thunder
not chilled by cold rain on hot afternoons

to sleep again that unburdened slumber
known only by innocence undisturbed
in waking heart of a mystic woman child
to gaze into the crystal ball of infinity
and steadfastly envision only the gift
of freedom tied in bright ribbons of hope
too little lived to find much sorrow in

to trust again and not despair of truth
nor justice within depths of human hearts
to be that uncomplicated girl once more
if only in dreams and memories clouded
by the fog of heartaches and knowledge
to live those times again, innocent days
of pink nail polish on unwrinkled hands
and gossamer white summer dresses

Youthful innocence knows not the boundaries of the impossible. Only that opportunity is everywhere and love is never far from the heart willing to seek. Belle, you capture those youthful emotions with a flair, a romantic air. And I do love it so. Peace joy, summer love and all things good and wonderful be yours my dear friend. Jon Michael

The gentle flow and soft romanticism make this piece more than just nostalgia. The longing and rue strike at the reader's heart.

Such meaningful verses to which I can relate completely, Belle; and the image you have chosen so effectively complements your words. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes,

It takes a life time to learn how to be young
Not how many spins of the sun.

Your best days are now
make them a WOW.

Lines show character
and how to be wise
yet up her sleeves
is that stunning surprise.

Women only blossom after many years of unlearning
what it is to be a woman of desire to set a soul on fire. xx

And you have inspired me to go put on my gossamer white summer dress this instant!

"...too little lived to find much sorrow in..." now there's the rub!
This is fine, Belle, exceptionally fine for you understand, you know, you feel...and how you express and communicate!
Right up there with the very best.

the mystic wonderment of untrammelled whiteness pervades your words and sentiments here, Belle. The vitality and freshness in this is truly revitalising and, as it were, wipes the slate clean. The beauty of white is that it is, optically speaking, a combination of the whole and hence speaks of perfection - which, in our mind's eye, perhaps the best days of our youth, whether ill-spent or innocent, always were. You are at your best and most profound here, yet with a delicacy and elegance of spirit that always leaves us with your inimitable lightness of touch. Another sigh-worthy write from you, Darlin. Hope you are well. xx

Yeah, to be young again, but would we if we could. My generation has had the best of it, once we got past those post depression days. Electricity, indoor plumbing, paved roads and air travel are all common place today and were for most of my life and now the computer technology and all that it brings. I couldn't have asked for more. You make it sound so delightful, but I'm pretty happy with my current station in life. Of course, I love to dream too. Thanks for allowing me to share yours. Dick

Fantastic write...your subject and the picture you chose to represent it are perfectly attuned. There is something utterly sensual to white summer dresses. They imply, no matter what age the woman wearing is, the sweet virgin innocence of youth and the carefree times of summers.
