Communing with nature is an emotional event of great magnitude. Lovers communing with nature is a monumental union of hearts and souls. A romantic event you have penned here Belle.
Your words ring so truly for me also Belle...
I love the imagery...
But the trying, and trying again is what counts...
Deep and meaningful words...

'the high place is where we tried to dwell
above the fray, above the heartaches
but too often we were forced onto
life's battlefield where we were wounded'------------ VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Liana Margiva
I relate to this. "wounded by the keen edge of disrespect and betrayal" is a reality I know well, Belle. Especially in my 20's and 30's. I also understand how the knee-jerk to that can easily be: "we learned to subsist on the sustenance of our own soulful thoughts and fantasies"... and doing so often to avoid, or circumnavigate, the feckless hordes that inhabit every creative field. Nurturing our dreams is imperative to maintaining a healthy mind. Amen. Getting into the higher elevations (literally and figuratively) has always been a most effectual way to air out the mental attic (so to speak) to re-focus and re-energize. Enjoyed this. Peace to you...rlc
It is good to be able to rise above the fray even if just for brief moments, "...and rapidly rising far up above the clouds where I at least for a while feel free and flying high so far up o'er the crowds from that mirage they call Reality...."
Sepsis knocked her down and out. Faith, hope, and gave her the strength to get back on her feet. I am a Runner She fought the river of death They said she'd never run again
She proved them wrong...
Always,
Deborah

I must say that it is always better to have the high ground, at least, until lightning strikes. ;-)
