I love my granny and pop pop too
I honor The Good Lord

I like to fish on a Summer day
in a cold creek to splash and play
I don't drink much but when I do
want my whiskey strong and smooth

I like my man sweet and extra hot
he better give me all the love he's got
and show respect for this flower of the South
anybody who can't can just shut they mouth
some of my people came from far away
with light hair, pale eyes and fair skin
some was natives on this American soil
bronze and dark from way back when
I aint ashamed to have skin lily white
I respect all people brown or black as night
I think they should respect me too
cause without respect what will we do?
I got a gun a setting next to my bed
and If you break in my house
you might just wake up dead
I can't shoot too straight
but I'll hit something for sure
take my gun? that's a pile of manure
I might be just an Ole Bubba Girl
not sophisticated like some folks are
but even an uncouth Bubba Girl knows
without protection you might not get too far
you crap on the constitution and call it wisdom
while the media pulls all your strings
you're just a puppet of liberal ignorance
and the chaos all that nonsense brings
so throw away your guns if you want
but don't try to take away mine
I don't care who of what color carries one
as long as by the law they abide
one by one our rights are disappearing
grabbed by a greedy government
set to control every aspect of our lives
and because of liberals like you
constitutional freedom slowly but surely dies

Bubba or nobleman academic or not too smart, the intensity of the uber liberals to disarm and thus completely control America's civilian population is obvious and insidious. They utilize every ploy and attempt to strike when emotions are most vulnerable. They utilize factually challenged statistics, ("there are figures, liars, damned liars and politicians") and prevarications ad nausea to wedge hatred between those who are armed for self protection and those who are not yet actually believe that central government is their savior. History repeats itself and we are rapidly approaching a government that is dictatorial, above the law and anxious to rule us rather than to perform the role they were intended to, as civilian servants to the masses. Just as King George did prior to our resolve and ability to become a sovereign nation. Thanks entirely to our ability as armed individuals to fight for and overthrow the tyrant. Apathy and ignorance of what is transpiring in America will lead to our downfall and taking away our ability to fight for and defend our republic will not exist. Interesting that you bring this topic to light hopefully it will awaken sleeping population regarding our nation's plight. Thank you for the wake up call.
Excellent poem. The right to bare arms. If you have never had to protect yourself , I can see how that would seem foolish. There are lots of examples of this in history books. Citizens needing arms for protection .Don't even need Hollywood for that. Anyway, well written piece.
Ron government has already overstepped the bounds originally intended for it. It will only get worse unless law abiding citizens refuse to let it continue. As for Scarlet O'Hara she shot a Yankee intruder in the face and if she hadn't he would have raped and killed in her house where he had no business being. Just because someone considers themselves to be an intellectual doesn't mean they have the best sense and views about everything.

When you rail against government you are railing against the Constitution that is the foundation of government. When you say you want to protect yourself you are saying you want anarchy or vigilantism instead of allowing the government (generally local police) to handle it in the way that it normally is done, now by calling 911 and let them have the problem.
The problem with most Americans is that we are seeped in the myth of the rugged American. Our heroes tend to be those on the big screen playing those from novels. People like John Wayne (described by friends as very racist), Charlton Heston (who played many liberal heroes until he got dementia), and Clint Eastwood who were always able to do, with their rugged individualism and their access to guns, save the day. However, if you look carefully at history, other, infamous heroes appear like outlaws like Billy the Kid, Jesse James, and Al Capone, who used their right to own and carry guns to gain power, money and just plain kill their enemies.
While there may be some examples from the movies, I don't see many gun toting heroines. The women portrayed as powerful heroes in the movies did so by their good deeds, organizational skills, or persistence against all odds. For those that did take up arms, mostly in frontier movies, almost always, they were saved by men even after putting up a good fight. As for Southern belles… I don't think that Scarlett O'Hara, in the movie or novel, ever picked up a gun to protect herself even in the face of civil war [Labelle has informed me that Scarlett shot a Union officer in the face who tried to rape her--I stand corrected].
